Full restoration of an F.H. Ayres rocking horse from Essex; structural repair, full repaint and painted stand.
This F.H. Ayres rocking horse arrived in poor structural condition; the stand had been reconstructed with newer wood so it was not possible to return to the original so we agreed with the client to repaint in a bold colour to match the colour themes of the horse.
After a thorough structural repair, the horse was re-gessoed, dapple hand-painted back to the F.H. Ayres house style with traditional dappling, and fitted with new hand-stitched leather tack. The stand was repaired and painted in its new colour.
The completed horse was returned to a delighted family.
